You know you're in the right place when you fire off your an email asking if they have a blogging policy, and the response starts with a "Well, I've copied our blogging evangelist on this..."
I'm now working on a contract for CivicActions, an amazing network of Drupallers offering web services to progressive, political, and grassroots efforts. They had the immediate need for a themer for a project and were out hunting, and I just happened to update my eLance profile the other night with the word "Drupal" liberally sprinkled throughout. Not to mention getting my green card the day before so I can legally work. Serendipity indeed. My sister often jokes that I have a golden horseshoe up my ass, but I'm a firm believer in making one's own luck and aligning things to fall into place with your passion.
Apparently this fun niche that I've fallen into of translating from graphic design -> CMS theme is something needed right now. More later, but they seem like an amazing bunch working in a great business structure.
Neat. Good for you. Isn't it

Isn't it a bit disappointing after all that work that the green card isn't green?
