Wow, an over four year old article too. So many companies haven't learned any of the lessons here and punish the would-be consumer.

Yeah it really struck me that it was from 2002 as well.
Weird...
It wasn't until someone else pointed it out that I realized Tim wrote this over four years ago. Not much has changed, though I did find it odd that he wasn't talking about the iTunes Store as an example of successful online media distribution.
