Raise your hand if you had a parallel Connectix QuickCam.

*raises hand*

Raise your hand if you occasionally brought out your 486 laptop even after you stopped using it for BBSing in order to use it plus the QuickCam like a portable digital camera.

*raises hand*

Raise your ha... okay, enough.  There is a point to this other than nerdy bantering.  In sorting out backups and defining network storage areas, I came across some photos I took of where I lived in my pre/early teens  :)

QuickCam

I had the very first Mac-only QuickCam... actually a few of them, the first a freebie because I'd beta-tested so much of Connectix's software. I used it to play a lot with the CU-SeeMe video chat software, some of which was written right upstairs from where I'm sitting right now! (Though I didn't work here then.)

Apple's iSight is an amazing personal video camera, but I still remember the old QuickCam days fondly. :-)

Oooh I remember CU-SeeMe!

Oooh I remember CU-SeeMe! That's too cool :)

Geek Moment

And this "Geek Moment"® was brought to you by the now defunct Connectix, whose quick cam technology was sold to Logitech.
