Birthday adventure

I officially declare this birthday's rating to be Kick Ass.

Had a productive morning.

Went to Ikea in Palo Alto for the first time (I think I will aim to visit every Ikea on the planet before I die... sad, yes, I know... but we needed some office storage and the countertop for the filing cabinet kitchen island), Fry's (I now have all the materials necessary to create my own network cables *bigstupidgeekgrin*), and a restaurant which I suspect may have been created solely for my personal heaven. Seriously. It only could have been made better if the food had been served by redheads in bikinis, and kittens.

I present to you: The Counter, where you can build your own burger.

First of all, you get this big checklist, which is perfect for optimizing detail-freaks like me:

(sorry for the blur... dark place and close up)

That's my burger.

And to top it all off, they had my two favourite deep fried things: onion rings (with not one, but THREE sauces for dipping), and SWEET POTATO FRIES! Even with a basket that was half and half. Yeah, they had me at hello.

Chris got the medium sized burger:

It just opened and the service seems to be working a few kinks out... but the food and experience of it was awesome.

Aside from dinner, Chris got me two delightful bits of reading material for my birthday.  The first is Lost Girls, which wikipedia describes as an erotic graphic novel depicting the sexual adventures of Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, and Wendy from Peter Pan.  Having flipped through one of the volumes quickly, I think it will be an exceptional treat to read  :)  Beautiful heavy hardcover books too.  I remember seeing news about it on BoingBoing and lusting, but had completely forgotten about it.  And the second is a subscription (and the back issues) to Make magazine!  *bounces*

So I'm officially still nowhere near an old fart at 24 :)

Happy Birthday!   Make

Happy Birthday!Cool

Make Magazine is  a great magazine. I remember when it was just a blog pt (Phillip Torrone) was doing.   He is always coming up with some cool new projects.

Last year they did their first Makefair as well. I heard it had a nice turnout as well.

HB!!

Happy Birfday to my fave geek!! Wish I could be there to spank you in person.

different Make Magazine

OK.. someone tell me I'm not crazy here.. didn't there used to be a programming-focused magazine called "Make" back in the 80s or 90s? That's what I thought steph was talking about when she mentioned this.

Anyone?

Bueller?
