Help: Buying my 1st digital camera

I'm going to buy one of these digital cameras, but I'm having trouble deciding. I am limited to a budget of $200. As far as specifications, my only 'must haves' are: manual focus capability, a minimum of 5 megapixels, and obviously, the best price based on the features available... everything else is negotiable. That rules out a few, eh? The camera will be for fun candids, not for professional or business use, but that doesn't mean I don't want a quality product ;) Note: Some of those lowest prices are for refurbished cameras, which I'm not opposed to unless the merchant has a poor rating. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

casio and cannon

i have used both of these and currently use the canon, i bought a refurbished model and saved a lot, great quality and i can't tell it from new.

I don't know prices stateside but i think theres a site 'steves digicams' or something similar that does great reviews, find a few models in your range and check them out on his site, he posts sample images and movies for all tests

AAAAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! NO! NO! DO NOT BUY FROM TRISTATE CAMERA!

In fact, do not buy from ANY mail order camera store in New York except for B.H. Photo Video or Adorama. Rogues, scoundrels and cads, the lot of them. Check out http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/cust_reviews__mid--30085.html for example. 21% negative reviews in the last week?

B.H. Photo and to a lesser extent Adorama are the exceptions to the "don't buy from mail order camera stores in New York" rule. I've had wonderful service from B.H. each time I've bought from them, and professional photographers swear by them (as opposed to the other stores, which they swear at.)

I always loved Canons

I always loved Canons Powershot line, I own 2 of them. Pretty much anything on that line you will be happy with.
