Not 100% on this, but if the bikini were both yellow, and had polka-dots, wouldn't it be "yellow, polka-dot bikini"? Either way, I think the same, that the polka-dots should be yellow.
Yellow Polka Dot Bikini?
How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? But if a woodchuck can't chuck wood then how much wood might a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck can chuck wood?
-breath-
If the woodchuck can't chuck wood then how can a woodchuck chuck wood if the woodchuck can't chuck wood? Then if a woodchuck might chuck wood, will the woodchuck go chuck wood?

No.
I'd have to see how it's written to say for sure.
A "yellow, polka-dot bikini" would be yellow with polka dots.
A "yellow polka-dot bikini" would be a bikini with yellow polka dots.
A bikini with yellow polka-dots would have to have a darker background, like black. That's not really a good look for a bikini, so I'd have to go with a yellow bikini with polka dots for aesthetic reasons :D
I realize that you guys are all thinking out your arguments in a very logical male way. Good for you.
Now, on to the female way of thinking which really is the only way to do it in a discussion of clothing like this.
If I had a dress that was yellow with polka dots on it, (say the dots were black, or green perhaps) I would descibe my dress as my yellow polkadot dress. I would not describe it as a black polkadot dress, because that would conjure up images of a black dress. Nor would I call it a green polka dot dress. If there's only one colour mentioned, it's the predominant colour of the fabric.
If I wanted to give a clear indication of what colour the polka dots were, I would deliberately phrase my statement to say the dress "with the yellow polka dots" in some fashion. "My green dress with yellow polkadots" would be an example.
Polkadots, you see, are more like an "accessory". You wouldn't expect a guy to refer to his navy suit with white pinstripes as "my white pinstripe suit", would you? Because that's just weird.

What she obviously meant to say at the end of all of this.. but seems to have forgotten is:
PWNED!!!!1111
ie. she's right.
And I'm not just saying that cuz I want to take pictures of her in a yellow polka-dot bikini, either.
yellow's really not my colour....my bikini is in shades of blue, green and purple. :)

Why do you want a bikini getting in the way?

You're not going to argue with me over what you'd look good in for photos are you? I think I nice (darkish) yellow would be quite fetching on you... assuming the bikini was scant enough.
Besides.. yellow and blue makes green. And the compliment of purple is yellow. See? I wasn't just looking at the pretty naked model in paiting class...

*shrugs* you've got to start somewhere.

I dunno...ambrosia definitely has cool undertones to her skin. Usually yellow is a no-no for that.
I mean she'd look hot anyway, but just sayin'

Great.
Which means that the bikini had yellow polka dots.
Why?
It was written by a guy.
My girlfriend did a bulesque number to that song this last summer. She used her yellow bikini and put polka dots on it. It was very cutesy and fun, and to stand by her side, I voted yellow bikini with polka dots. :P
I must say I never interpreted the lyrics in the way that the dots are yellow, I always asumed it was the bikini that is yellow.
yellow polka dot bikini
I too believe that the polka dots are yellow.

Now the hardest one of them all; why did I even bother replying to that? :S
Guess I smoked to much of that delicious herb...
Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
..clearly you've all ignored the fact, that the bikini was yellow WITH yellow polka dots!

yello polka dot bikini?
I have been seeing this commercial that uses the song "Yelllow Polka Dot Bikini" and shows the girl has a bikini that is yellow with polka dots on it.
I say this is not what the song says, the polka dots should be yellow. What do you think?
