Any particular opinions on forums for the new site? I'm basically going to leave it as-is, but add a games/silliness forum, and change the music to music & arts.
Forums on v6
Oh thank god, no more 'word games' threads. Just make sure that if someone makes the 'mistake' of putting a 'word game' thread in, say, 'Blah', they don't get credited for that when it gets moved.
That, and maybe the 'word games' forum might be a good place for 'funny pictures I saw on the internet' as well.

A way to turn off the avatars and/or inlined images (goes with a non-graphical view of the entire site, I suppose...)

That was me, by the way.

Hehehe.. gotcha. I know it's a love/hate thing so I thought I'd make a forum just for 'em.

Yep, you can switch to a totally boring and very graphically limited theme.
How's this? http://drupalgarden.com/bluemarine
Still gotta find out if there's a way to completely shut off posted images...
Two things:
First, forum areas don't display notification images showing whether or not there have been new posts to the area or not.
Second, my signature is inside this comment box. I'm not sure I like having it sitting here in raw form, and would prefer it be appended after I hit 'Post'.
Music! -- Games! -- Personality! --
Well, I'd like a way to go from thread to thread without having to go back to the main page of the section and then go to the next discussion thread. I liked the old site's "View Next/Previous Thread" buttons. Unless I'm a dope and haven't seen where to turn that on.
Here's my list of things I don't like about the new forums (I much preferred the old ones in terms of UI):
- there doesn't seem to be a way to jump right to the latest comment in a post or to the latest post in a forum.
- the initial post is structurally different from the rest of the posts. eg. there's no reply button on the initial post. I have to come all the way down to the bottom of the page to do that.
- there's no way to automatically quote the post to which you are replying
- each post having a default subject equal to the first so many characters of the post itself is terribly annoying
Umm. that's all I can think of at the moment. There's probably more but those are the biggest ones.
Buster, I'm in agreement with each one of those (and will do my best to correct them) except the last one. I found it annoying at first too, but it's really grown on me after some time. I like the option of being able to put in something descriptive, or you can just ignore it.
Oh.. I like the idea of having a subject.. I just think it's confusing when the subject is selected from the first line of the post. Usually it's cut off in mid-sentence. I read the subject (since it draws my attention) which may or may not be a complete sentence.. then I read a repeat of it a second later.
