I know this isn't directly connected to me, but I felt that some who know my family better would want to know. Please bear with me here, I got this information about 3rd hand through my brother to my parents, so I don't have many of the details.
My brother's girlfriend's younger sister was overdue to have a baby for the past few weeks now. She finally went into labour last night (I think) but there were MAJOR complications. Her bloodtype apparently caused the baby to be at great risk when their blood mixed during birth (? again, I don't know what type, what the problems were exactly, just that things did not go at all as planned). She had an emergency C-section because the baby's heart stopped. They managed to revive him/her for a few hours, but there was massive braindamage and ultimately the baby died.
The would-be-mother is a year younger than I am and is currently engaged to the father who is in his mid-to-late 20's. I think they were set to be married this fall, but again, I'm not sure. I've never met either of them.
So please, send your thoughts to my brother Ian and his girlfriend Heidi in this most difficult of times for them, as well as to the were-to-be parents, Nicole and her fiance. Thanks so much, I know all your thoughts will help them through this.
