Router-based problem?

So I'm stuck.

I know for a fact that humber.ca exists and is running, because I can ping it using an online ping tool.

Pinging it from any computer on this network gets timed out.

Nothing has changed in the router's settings, there are no banned sites, it's not computer-specific, and it's the only site that is acting this way.

any ideas?

* ahem - clears throat *

Try using the ip for humber.ca
192.75.71.50
it could be that the DNS you connect to is having problems

* first post completed - blushes *

I forgot to mention that the direct ip doesn't work either. :(

typing tracert humber.ca in command gives me all kinds of

# * * * Request timed out.

What DNS servers are you using?

Could you copy/paste all the traceroute results?

I did it from a command window. Every single line was the same.

Tracing route to humber.ca [192.75.71.50]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 * * * Request timed out.
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.

etc...all the way to 30.

stupid random non-loading page.
But seriously, if it was the DNS servers, wouldn't I be able to access it via the direct ip?

Actually, not necessarily.

Way back about two years ago, my ISP mistakenly started blocking megatokyo.com. It took them MONTHS to realize that they were doing it, and the only way to get around the problem was to use someone else's DNS servers. Nothing worked to connect to the site. Not alternate browsers, and not direct IPs.

Of course. That was just a test. And, you passed, yay!

Shit man, I really don't have any idea off the top of my head. Sounds like something's set odd somewhere...

What network are you on? At school? Do you have several at home? Are you talking about your ISP's network?

I mean the network here at my house. There are 6 computers on the network, and I've gotten used to referring to it as "the network".

EDIT: oh, and a network printer/scanner linked via a wireless bridge. A very tiny wireless bridge. It's cute. :)

Have you tried connecting a computer directly to the outside world without any routers/firewalls/whatever inbetween? (ie connect a machine directly to the modem). At least that way you could eliminate any weird problems on the inside and place the blame squarely on your ISP.

And that's what they're going to make you do anyway when you call in to open a trouble ticket.

Yeah, I know. That's why I'm going to wait until tomorrow to do so. :)

But as soon as I connect a computer directly and get an error, they're getting a call.
