Camfolk: Camera purchase tips?

Right, so a couple I know came and asked me for technical assistance regarding webcam purchases. Seeing as how the last time I bought a webcam, 352x288 was the upper limit on video capture, I know next to nothing about cameras compared to others here.

So here goes: Does anyone here have suggestions on what kind of camera to purchase for something under, say... $100? They say they could go as high as $175 if it's worth it, but setting limits is always a good thing.

Basically, they're looking for something that'll be easy to use (first and foremost easy to use, by far, since I'm NOT going to be there to set things up, though I can walk them through some things, so basically something that'll plug in vaguely easily to Y! Messenger, or has a simple broadcast program or whatever it is you camfolk use).

Beyond that, their next request was wireless. It's not a totally required thing, but it's the first reason they came to me asking in the first place. They want to be able to move it around the house at will. So wireless would be prefered, though after pointing out a few basic cameras I could find and comparing prices, I'm not so sure they're entirely keen on the idea of wireless any more.

I'll hand the link to this thread to them, so either one can come in and ask questions, but I figured me introducing the question would be best, since you people all know me (vaguely).

Logitech Quickcam 4000 seems to be the camgirl favorite.

Webcam/Homecam/Lifecam Suggestions

Here at TC HomeCam http://www.frontiernet.net/~tchomecam/ we run several different models of USB Webcams. Out of the three different models, here are our suggestions.

1) *Best* Creative Labs Ultra NX. Wide angle lens, fantastic color, and great for indoor use. Cost; under $30.00 refurb. We paid $25.00 each for ours. Look for the deals on eBay.

2) *Just OK* Creative Labs "Live". Ok for an indoor computer deskcam, but thats about it. CMOS Cam though. Cost; under $25.00 used.

3) *Best outdoor viewing USB cam* Logitech Pro4000. Great outdoor viewing cam. Works fantastic in low light compared to the above cams, but color depth seems to be a bit lacking if you plan on using it for indoor use. Currently, we using this as a driveway/frontyard cam and also as a backyard swimming pool cam. Used indoors, it made us look pale as if we constantly had the flu.
