Hate LCD monitors

I bought one today, and it is very crappy.

If crap is on one end, and a diamond on the other, the LCD is crap and my ol' CRT is a diamond.

And I bought a top-of-the-line LCD. A $700 Sony. The contrast is the worst. Blacks blend into other blacks, and detail is just none existent. The colors are also cartoony.

OK, my CRT is/was the choice for graphics pros a few years back. So I guess I am spoiled. But how can they replace a technology with something worse and call it better?

LCD Monitors...

I have an AOC LM700 TFT and I would not on any circumstances go back to a CRT, I have been using this one for about 2 years now, and it runs cool, draws less current than the CRT it replaced and once correctly adjusted the colours are wonderful and the blacks.... well ... black.

My only complaint with it is that some companies decide to make their typeface very small, smaller than the pixcel resolution of this monitor so it becomes difficult to read... If your monitor is crappy send it back. Try a different make -

I liked mine so much I bought another just like it.

LCD's can be very funny. However the quality of the image should rock.
What Resolution where you running at the time? If you remember.
I have a few here sitting side by side with high end CRTs and most everyone says the LCD image looks better. however the True black is a problem on any LCD.

I have an ultra new LCD and it's way better than a CRT, except for the blacks. Will they ever solve that problem???

Yes some models have a near perfect black. It is very hard for LCDs to display black well because of the way they function, using a backlight does not help one bit. I get to work on LCDs on laptops and desktop type models so I am very familier with them. if you look at reviews you'll find which models have better black representation then others.
