I might be crucified for this, but it has to be asked
How and where did you get your nick/signature/avatar?

In high school our music department did a bunch of fundraising, some of which was in the form of running bingo nights at Mayfair Bingo in Oakville.
Whilst I was working at one of these nights, I was wandering around holding a bundle of tickets to be sold (like you do) and as I was walking, I was kinda swinging the bundle up and down in my hand to pass the time.
A friend of mine at the time later told me that it looked as if I was trying to wield a raw fish as a deadly weapon.
The fish eventually became a haddock.
I eventually became Haddock-Boy.
The end.
Nick: "Sickboy" was a slight nickname at primary school (ie a nickname only occasionally used and only by like 2 people), stopped getting used when I went to secondary. When I went to uni and got email I generally signed them "Si K". After a (now ex-, then future-) girlfriend asked me whether that should be pronounced "Psyche", I dusted off my old nickname started using "SiKboy" as my internet nick. Offline most people these days call me "Si", pronounced <sigh>
Signature: Waaaaaaay back in the day I frequented a couple of now defunct boards where people used a lot of pictures in their sigs. Then people moved on to lots of pictures, plus huge animated gifs. Then lots of pictures, animated gifs and SOUND FILES. This drove me (and others) to distraction, as we were on dial up, and these idiots would post "me too" in a thread, followed by a 2 page signature that took about an hour to load. My signature was supposed to be ironic or something I guess. Anyway, that was a few years ago now, and I just liked the signature, so kept it. Incidently, out of all the forums I have ever posted on, I've only had one offer to actually rent the space.
Avatar: I just think that I couldnt find an image that more perfectly sums up the SiKboy experience.
I use a couple of different nicks online.
sawah comes from my Star Trek rpg days. Some of the people there got on a baby-talk kick, so Sarah turned into sawah.
k4tj3 sorta also comes from the RPGs. One of my best friends there, who is an Australian but 100% Dutch, started calling me Kitten in dutch, which is Katje. Eventually, when I started to use Katje online for different nicks and such for websites, it was always taken, so I translated the a and e into l33t sp33k, and got k4tj3.
Cuddlemonster...
came from the fact that my appetite for snuggling and cuddling my bf is insatiable. I've been described as "like an octopus" because, once I've garnered him in a cuddle, I don't give up easily. 8) I also do this thing where I blink wide-eyed and make this cute, high-pitched "-rawr?" sound... hence monster. The pixie-cut perma-bedhead hair helps the image. I'm very annoying when I want to be :D
Don't have an Avatar because I wanted to use a 7kB gif of Little Miss Trouble, but the limit is 6, and I can't for the life of me make it smaller in Corel Photopaint. Curses.

my last name is "mack" and one time in junior high a teacher asked what we wanted to name our kids. i said "fleetwood" as a joke and the whole class laughed, from there people called me fleetwood or fleet. when hotmail came out, i got fleet @hotmail.com before you had to have 73 numbers following any word, but that account got absolutely flooded with spam so i stopped using it like 6 years ago, like we're talking 400 a day, so i just switched it to fleetmack.....which in turn is my username for everything and my website's domain name, not to mention my nickname.
avatar: i've always like the "WE LIKE THE MOON!" spongemonkeys...and on that same note...i guess those quiznos commercials ruled
sig: it's from a white zombie song (thunderkiss '65) ... i thought it was great. it really shows that i'm motivated and also that i have a sense of humor, and also that i love sex :) on top of that it shows my musical preference. it says a lot for such a small amount of words.

My avatar's more than 6k. You can do it, you just have to upload it somewhere and then link it from there.
If you don't have any place, you can e-mail it to me, and I'll upload it for you and give you the url so you can link to it.

I was always trying to think up a cool sounding handle, that wasn't taken yet.
Then I dropped that idea, and mid-game decided to go with the first silly thing that popped into my head. Most players laughed at the sudden silliness of it. :D
SIG - Excercise to the reader. :P
That's what my friend used to do on Diablo II. He'd name his characters whatever he saw first, ie, Fruitop because of a fruitopia bottle, and Swing_Line for an obvious brand of staplers...
Some of them were really funny, because they weren't always the full brand name, and you could just imagine what he was doing with the various things you figured out were around his desk...

Hahaha! ditto on that one. Sharpie_the_Felt is the only one I can remember that I used...
Nickname and signature come from my BattleTech campaign. My unit was the 41st Corsairs Regimental Combat Team. The commanding officer was the (As far as anyone knows) only functional AI. Since the rank for an RCT commander is Field Marshal, which shortens to FM, that's where that part comes from.
And if you're wondering, yes, he is a Phoenix Hawk IIC now. Started as a Star League-era Phoenix Hawk LAM, went theough several modifications, then finally got uploaded to his new body.

LAM "Jack of all trades, masters of none"
I tried using LAM's but without pulse weapons or an incredibly stupid high gunnery skill they were about worthless...I might even have a few of my spec sheets laying around somewhere!

nick: it came from me always saying I was just me....however everyone and there brother seems to use it so I added my birth month and date to it.
Avatar: downlowded off of someother web site because Homer rocks
sig: An old Irish toast my Grandmother would say before we ate at family get togethers
nick: because I love puns (not a fan of Con-Air)
avatar: from http://amsn.sourceforge.net
sig: why must I fill Steph's disk space?
But for my e-mail I use this:
This computer is running since 31 days, 3 hours and 39 minutes without crashing: am I lucky or is it just Linux?
and of course the uptime is updated in every message.

My box at work is a 350mhz, 256mb ram. It handles firefox, minor photoshopping, and many putty windows. The only reason i had to kill my 136 day uptime was becuase of a power issue in the building. The only reason I had to kill the next 140 day uptime was because I was moved to another office <insert Milton jokes here>
Oh, it's running win2k.
Like you had to -try- to make linux run that long without reboots. :P
</jackass>
I'm just poking fun. :-).

I actually know more than that, cause I started learning as something special we could share, since there isn't anyone in Australia that he can speak Dutch with. Unfortunately, I still suck at most of it, especially putting my own sentances together, but I can read most of his.

Not to be an ass, but is that a pun, or just a rhyme?
"It was a pun!"
<looks around>"A pun?"
"Yeah." <laughs to himself>
'No it isn't."
"NO! Not a pun! It was a......oh. What's the thing what's spelled the same backwards as forwards?"
"A palindrome?"
"Yeah! It was a palindrome."
"It was not a palindrome! The palindrome of Bolton would be Notlob!"
a cookie for the first one to get the specific reference.

My brain is fried on eggnogg and sleep deprivation, but I could swear it was from a Monty Python skit about a parrot.

Ik denk het Nederlands enkel een meer prettier taal is.
CMack is a shortened form of Crazy Mack.
It originates from a novel I intend to write someday. The nickname of the main character is Crazy Mack - given to him because he was too often willing to do something risky in battle.
I first started using it in Counter Strike because it fit my fighting style. When-ever a rush is called, I'm almost always the one leading the charge. And if I'm the last player left, I'm most likely to take on the rest of the opposing team kamikaze style - sometimes with great success I might add.
The made up the signature based on the saying, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, would it make a sound?"
As far as the avatar, I only began using it on Steph's site. Given that I had been unemployed since last July, the picture of the homeless person holding a sign saying "Will code HTML for food" seemed to be a good fit for me. The question is now, since I just recently accepted a Programmer II, should I change my avatar or leave it as is?
well I don't use my sig or avatar on here but on the other tech forums i frequent. Maxtat came along years ago when I was in my phase of apprentice for being a tatoo artist. I have 6 now that cover largely most of my chest , back and arms but cannot be seen when wearing a polo or t-shirt so i'm "work safe" LOL just stuck with me for years now
