You got banned from fark??
You know, maybe Fark should move to a modified Slashdot moderation method. Instead of giving power to a small (arrogant) few, give it to the masses. If people think Steph is threadjacking, then they'd mod her down. If not, then the mods are wrong (*shock* *gasp*!)
Yeah yeah they never give warning. The thing I'm most pissed about is
a) not being able to speak up in a hugely significant thread
b) the fact that I had no idea I was banned and was taking my time to post over this past month and a half with no idea that my comments were totally useless.
*grumbles*
I should be un-banned, but still, very annoying. Plus I'll be on a probation-type thing where any slightly off-topic post counts as a permanent ban 
If you go to the archives at http//www.fark.com/archives/ and choose that week, you will see classifieds from the same time. I think.
If your post has been removed, I can't search for it; but perhaps looking through the archives for that week (and the one before/after) might jog your memory?
For example, on January 5, there were ads for Bush signing the historic "F___ other nations bill", "Save Bob the Cat", "Gogi's Networking Corner" etc.

First of all, it was SO off-topic before I even commented (read the whole thread and it seems ridiculous that I was singled out), and the off-topic part of my post was in response to Benny_Hill's 01-05-03 020028 AM post.
I emailed Drew asking for an explanation, but stated that if I was going to be unbanned only to be put on some kind of probation where any slightest fault gets me permanently banned (which is what usually happens), I'd rather be a lurker. It looks like someone just had it out for me

Well, that just deserves an ASININE tag (no, I won't link to fark images...)
I noticed that since this morning, several of my comments in the Ryerson thread have now disappeared. But not all of them. I can't see any rhyme or reason.
Late yesterday I was sure it was just a glitch in the matrix, er, the dbase at FARK was having a tough day. Now I'm not so sure.
Maybe I've been banned now? For just mentioning Ayesha?

I don't even remember what all I said. Someone posted on your behalf that you couldn't post, and I said it was probably just the Fark database having problems. Other posts referred to some of the pictures we were discussing, etc.
The funny thing is that late yesterday a bunch of posts disappeared, and I posted a few more times, and some of those were deleted. I can't make any sense of it, and the thread was locked overnight so I couldn't post anything new.
Oh well, I'm not losing sleep over this, but I kinda want to know how the mysterious box works (like the monkeys in 2001, Space Odyssey)
So, Steph, if you ever ban me or delete my posts, please let me know why, or it will drive me to drink or something.

Was wondering whatever happened to Steph after reading the ryerson article and ended up here. Hang in there, Steph, I always thought you were in good terms with the Fark mods.

Fark just is not the same as it used to be. My fark# is in the 6000's and I used to talk all the time, but now I don't know who anyone is and it kind of lost the funny appeal. Banning you is completely lame. I never understood why they ban people like TBF and even M2C. People like to talk, let them talk, even if it is off topic. Most of the time it is the lonely 13 yr old boy who just keeps chatting up one of the lovely ladies. You have a choice either be a dick and ignore them, or chat. What is the harm is chatting? Good luck on getting un-banned.
Hey TBF!! Long time no see (or hear from). I agree with Fishbowl, the Fark forums were a fine place to be, I never actually realized that they were supposed to be on topic, I just figured that was how the forum thread started and it went from there. I mean, look at the AlQuiada threads from the early part of 2002. Most of those degenerated into religious / political flame wars, but I never saw anybody banned for that. If you didn't want to participate, you just didn't participate, simple as that. Like on any other forum, you ignore the Trolls and talk to whom you want. I have a fark number new enough to have my creation date on it, but I still remember when it was a kewl place to be. Still holding true to my sig line though, I mean, I have not much else in life.

Testosterone is well and good and all but I have plenty of my own to get me in trouble. And, who doesnt want the input of the "fairer" sex.
..even though I have found out through The Wise Woman that women are much more mean(meaner)than guys.
