Windows Vista

I hear 60% of the code has to be reworked and it won't be out until 2007 at the very least.

But no, I've not tried it. Won't, either, unless desperate and/or the DRM gets ripped out somehow.

According to Leo and the other TWiTs, Vista has had a lot of it's "proposed features" yanked. They also won't be ready until Spring 2007 at least, with most projections putting them in the summer of 2007. I've seen some screenshots, and it doesn't look any different from any other Windows platform.

I thought that about the screenshots too, but I liked the idea of IE being kept completely separate from the rest of your system, instead of infiltrating and infecting every aspect of it like the plague.

I am a member of a Windows Users Group, and we just had a loadfest at the local microsoft offices where a bunch of MS guys came down and hooked us up with the latest CTP build 5308 and helped us all install it on whatever machine we had handy. it looked nice and there are a lot of real geeky new features that are fucking awesome. needless to say i couldnt get it to load on my laptop that i brought, and i tried an update on my desktop and that didnt work, but the install process is a lot nicer and neater (no blue screens with keyboard-only use) the install uses a miniature bootable OS and any of a number of .wim files, which are Windows Image files and it uses a screen with menus and mouse functionality, its nice. and on the upgrade, when it said that it failed instead of having a half installed OS and no way to revert back, it automatically reverted back to XP without any changes, which was nice. anyways, thats all i got, and hopefully the next CTP will have whatever changes necessary to be able to install it on my laptop and desktop. P.S. Aero is the shit.

The beta 2 broke my network card and I had to buy a new one.

Nothing to write home about, I will stick with debian and KDE.
