Winamp being weird

So pretty spontaneously Winamp decided that it didn't want to play certain movies anymore. I happened about 2-3 weeks ago and nothing I've tried has worked, including getting rid of both Xvid and Divx codecs from my computer, completely uninstalling winamp and starting over. It seems pretty random which movies it'll play and which it won't.

Any ideas? I know it's fairly vague, but I figured I'd ask just in case someone's encountered this type of thing before.

i've had VERY similar issues in the past, i've uninstalled and reinstalled every codec and winamp several times to no avail. i'm assuming it's a damn windwos update or something (unless you're intelligent, unlike me, and use linux)

I never try anything, I just do it. Wanna try me?

i never use winamp for

i never use winamp for playing videos.i dont think much to all the new fancy versions.i still use v2.64 for playing mp3s.for playing videos i use Media Player Classic.its a great little standalone player

replace it with something better...

I got rid of winamp about two years ago, and opted for several other options for audio and video needs, especially when i got into heavy encoding with xvid. Check out media player classic (google should find it) for video, and foobar2000 for audio. neither is really aesthetic like winamp, but they work much better on the whole.

HEY!!! DO YOU PEOPLE LISTEN??

Read the damn question! HB didn't ask you what program you use. He didn't ask you what program he should use. He asked about the program he *IS* using.

(Sorry, Miss Ambrosia; I haven't been to the forums in a couple weeks, so I didn't notice the gross violations of Blaze's Rules.)

Blaze is what his name is in

Blaze is what his name is in real life. The word "rules" is used here as a tongue-in-cheek thing, as many long-standing members have certain pet peeves that we all know about. Try filling a post with "your" instead of "you're", "loose" instead of "lose", and "breath" instead of "breathe" and see whose heads explode. It doesn't take long to get used to people's quirks.

all that stuff ambrosia said, plus..

We also try not to use "gay" as a pejorative around here.

It's a bit of silliness and a common pet peeve around here... no need to get upset :)

bad words

What people pick as their name is their own business. My name derives from digger=archaeology student and John=John...As for names being "gay". Mine isn't, I am straight. But if someone is gay and has a "gay name" ; if they are nice, friendly and funny, I am proud to call them friend and "fellow citizen of StG".

hmm

Blu you seem to be awfully judgemental for someone that is new to the relm... relax, enjoy, but most of all keep the flaming out...

And I'm not one to tolerate fools.

I don't have a "username". I have a name.

My name is Marty John Blaze Miskulin, the "Blaze" being adopted upon my confirmation into the Catholic Church. The name was taken in honor of my paternal grandfather Blasius (Blaz) Miskulin, who was named for St. Blasius of Sebaste.

My grandfather immigated to the United States in 1920, leaving behind a wife and small child (whom he would eventually bring over after working for 2 years as a migrant laborer), as well as his vocation as a master stone mason. He was, until his death, a man of patience, wisdom, skill, and strength. By taking his name as my own, I am both honoring my ancestor, and working to be more like him.

As for the perjorative use of the terms "gay" and "macho": your attempt at insult falls quite short of its goal in both instances. As you may learn from anyone here who has actually met me, I have no need for "macho" pretentions, nor do attacks on my sexuality bother me, as I am both confident and sufficient in my masculinity and sexual orientation.

And as a final note: your opinions might possibly hold more weight should they include appropriate capitalization and punctuation, and use phrasing less applicable to 8-year-olds.

Oh my

Blaze, too much caffiene today? As for being baptized Catholic. I was too, didn't have much say in it though.I also was forced into 12 years of Catholic Education. I got an excellent base, I studied French from Kindergarten and I read Shakespeare in 5th grade. But it also kind of shook my faith when I started to learn of the incredible contradictions in its dogma. As I studied other faiths in college,I found that they have the same kind of problems. So now I believe in an undescript power that is answered by different cultures to suit their own needs, but are really all kind of missing the mark a bit. Otherwise I am a devout student of Darwinism.
As for ancestory, they have made a new study and they have shown through messenger RNA testing, that every human being on earth can claim a royal ancestor. So ancestory isn't really much of a big thing, unless you subscribe to some Eastern belief systems. I can claim Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as a great-great uncle and the late Gianni Versace as a cousin, but that and $1.75 will get me on a bus on Long Island.
As for sexuality, my motto is, "If your not abusing anyone or anything, who the hell cares?" And I am no liberal by any means, I follow the Jeffersonian ideal of leaving people alone if they aren't harming anyone.

um...

I think your indignation might be tad misplaced.

I'm quite certain Blaze's sentiments echo your own on the subject of sexuality. All of that section was dedicated towards someone's rather poorly chosen words while attempting to misplace him.

I don't see anything wrong with him being proud of that particular ancestor, especially when he uses that to set an example for himself of how to act.

Indignation

I have no indignation going on. I just find it goofy when people think that humans are the center of the universe, or even of earth's ecosphere. Humans are puny, we are merely on this earth for a blink in its own lifetime and the notion that it can all be explained by the writings of Abrahamic sheppards and fishermen from 3000 BC to about 70 AD is rather amusing to me.
