Primmer?

Show of hands -- an introductory textbook for something is a PRIM-mer, or a PRIME-r?

Apparently this is a Canadian/Brit thing to pronounce it the same as PRIME-r, as in the first coat of paint??

And don't get me started on the fact that Chris says "vizzage" instead of "visage" or "nitch" instead of "niche"  :P

all just dialects of english! :) i'd imagine you could find a dictionary that'd "prove" either pronunciation correct.

PRIME-er as in paint.
VIS-arge.
NEE-sh. Nitch is just plain wrong.
Even more so than click instead of clique (CLEE-k).

We didn't spend years stealing words from the French just to have them mangled!

Yeah the dictionary usually says they're all right, but I'm curious who says what in practice :)

They are pronounced Prime-er, viz-aj, neesh, kleek, toe-mah-toe, rooter. I'm British, we invented the damn language, so what we say goes. Even though some of the words are nicked off've the French.

(I'm kidding by the way. Though you all do have officially 1 month to put the "U" back into "Color" or it'll all kick off...) :D
