Same with me Steph.
Same with me Steph.
wrong
It says that there's nobody with my *last* name in the US.
I know of a few dozen.
I can do a simple Google search and come up with at least half a dozen (most of which are not part of the group I know).

I quess I am one of a kind!
3,000 with the name of Suzann, but only 700 of the last name Fassnacht. But I am the only Suzann Fassnacht, makes me feel kind of special.
Blaze -- crap, that sucks.
Blaze -- crap, that sucks. I was hoping it was fairly accurate. But I do know there are no other Stephanie Pakruls :) There are only a handful of Pakruls around and I know almost all of them :P

I'm not special. There are 426 of me.
Well, I guess I am special, cause all of them live in the US and I live in Canada :P

The site admits to problems.
The website admits that around 19% of all people will not find their name listed on the site. Anyone with a rare last name will likely not be found. The source of their information is the 1990 census (quite dated), and only contains names within the U.S.
http://howmanyofme.com/faq/#section1
While the pronunciation of my last name is relatively common, the spelling is very uncommon. Thus, the site did not find my last name either.
If a website crashes on the Internet and no one is there to view it, did it really exist at all?
"The source of their information is the 1990 census (quite dated), and only contains names within the U.S."
This is not a "database of names", but a statistical sampling of "377,000 persons living in 165,000 housing units in
5,300 predefined blocks (or block clusters)" from a supplemental survey of the 1990 census (to help fill in data on people who weren't included in the mass-mailing of forms).
The information acquired from this independent (PES) operation was matched against actual 1990 Census records for persons living in those same 5300 blocks plus additional surrounding ring blocks. The PES blocks plus the surrounding ring--"the Search Area"--contained 7.2 million census records replete with name.
So what this site is basing the "number of people with your name" on is a statistical construct based on a targetted sample of 2.4% of the population.
